As my knowledge grew, I began to take on a new role as a mentor to newcomers, leading teams on a range of diverse projects. I even participated in a leadership course, which helped prepare me for the opportunity to become a project manager. With confidence and determination, I tackled each new challenge with enthusiasm and agility.
While I hadn’t yet achieved senior status in any particular technology, my experiences with such a vast variety of tools and projects have given me a unique perspective and the ability to provide valuable insights on any project I tackle.
What were some major challenges that you successfully overcome?
During the last 8 years at SABS, I faced some challenges that tested my abilities. One such challenge occurred just six months into my job when I became responsible for overseeing all SharePoint projects. It was a daunting task, but I persevered even as the senior member went on parental leave.
Another challenge arose when I was asked to lead a team responsible for implementing complex functions and stored procedures to calculate forecast costs for a project. Although it wasn’t an area of expertise for me, I rose to the challenge and delivered the expected results.
Through it all, I am grateful for the support and assistance I received from my colleagues. While there were undoubtedly other challenges, I never shied away from stepping out of my comfort zone and taking on new, exciting opportunities.
